My 6.7 F350 may not be great on turning, but it is amazingly powerful and accelerates very quickly. If you haven't driven one you'd be surprised. And that is in the detuned mode, push a button on the dash and it's capable of laying a strip of rubber down the road.
I think most accidents come from lack of attention by a driver. And that driver may not be you, someone runs a stop sign/light right in front of you for example. Or a wasp gets in the cab and stings you on the nose. Nimbleness probably isn't going to save you from a lot of accidents.
In my opinion, accidents (involving two vehicles) are caused by two drivers that aren't paying attention. Not all accidents can be avoided, but I've avoided ~100 accidents in my driving career because I anticipated the stupid driver, and made evasive maneuvers. The less nimble the vehicle, the less likely a impending accident can become a near miss.
