My uncle was a refinery manager for Amoco. He never changed oil, he said you did not need to.
He would add oil as needed and change filters each year. He typically kept his trucks until the upholstery wore out or some electrical issue developed. I do not know the mileage of all his trucks but his last Chevy V-8 had 175,000+ on it when he died and it was sold in the estate sale.
I change my oil, fuel, and transmission filters about once a year on the 10 yr old Silverado and do the oil at the same time. Sometimes I only tow abut 7K miles/yr and sometimes is it 15K with another 10K of non towing miles.
I think you have to do what makes you comfortable and not worry what others do.
