Yes AFM can be an issue. I have not owned a truck with that, But have extensively read about it to help my buddys out with issues. Oil consumption and such.
One trick is drive in manual 5th when running errands and such. Will not go in V4 mode to a certain speed like 65 mph...
Other thing what I would do if I owned a AFM chevy is add a Range AFM disabler. $199 and done..No warranty concerns..
V8 all the time....:)
