That would probably work in most cases. But, I have seen hoods where there is not enough clearance between the hood and the fender to even get a strap though. And, A some of hoods these days would get bent by either the strap or the force of the canoe pulling on it while in transport.

I have Thule rack on my sub. Widest bars made. Canoe load bar ends. A patent pending oak orchard canoe and kayak mega loader roller system. Lay canoe on a k2500 sub. Roll it up. They should have made all the k2500 z71

I have seen one 1/2 ton glamping z71 ever use its factory rear roller system.

I have a Thule rack mounted to "rain gutter bases" on the cap on my pick up bed. I've been using nothing more than a pair of long cinch straps looped under the bars and over the canoe for 30+yrs! Hwy speeds up to 80 without trailer, 65-70 with, including some of the roughest miles of dirt roads in northern Maine, and never had anything shift.

Same method used for both my 14 kevlar and 15.5' royalex.

Canoe usually goes on in spring and comes off late fall.

Maybe REV 1 is in order.

I had those eye bolts in stock....I can always buy and install longer ones.....I'm guessing 8 inchers as opposed to the 6.
