It may be better to construct the flatbed tray longer than the camper, the tray shown in the picture is very short, if it would protrude behind the back of the camper by about 12 to 18 inches you would open up a lot of storage options for an entrance ladder ,gear etc.. The weight of the extra length would be little on an aluminum bed.
