Being a reasonably handy guy I had always just put new refills in my wiper blades. Inexpensive and easy. Don't know about your area, but the parts stores around here don't even sell refills anymore.
They sell you the whole blade now, for $12 and up (mostly up) EACH as opposed to, what, $6 or $7 for a PAIR of refills.
