Today I've heard about donuts that sit on top of the cab & help support the weight of the bed above the Drivers cab & then are also struts that help support.So what have you found that works best & why do you like it so much?I will be doing lots of desert off road driving to get to my spots & that makes me think of Bouncing & wonder how to best prepare for it?

First off the Lance struts are for highway driving only. They function to reduce the proposing effect on expansion joints. Their literature states that you have to remove them for off highway camper use. A donught is going to crush your roofs thin metal and scrape the hell out of the paint.Just make sure you have at least 4" of clearance from roof to cabover and go explore.

It might be obvious, but slow down on the really rough areas. :)

It might not flex as much as you think. I put a GoPro on ours and watched some video as we went over potholes/speed bumps and it did not move more than a millimeter or two.

The camper is designed to be fine without support on or offroad. If you have flex enough to damage the camper is rotted anyway. Plus how much support do you think a sheetmetal roof will give?

I've never even seen any of them roof supports but just heard of them...

Back in the '60s/'70s we used the donuts between the TC overhead and the trucks roof but those old trucks had lots of steel in the roof compared to todays trucks. And they wore the paint off our trucks and after a while squeaked with every movement. I gave mine to a neighbor.

I have never seen a donut between the cab roof and camper.

Back in the 70s and 80s (when I was a kid), I'd occasionally see one between the rear of the cab and front of the camper, to form a seal between the two so people or pets could pass through.
