Palamino Pop Up Truck Camper

Upon reaching our 60's, we decided it was time to move from a tent to a camper. As my husband pulls a fishing boat, a truck camper was the ticket. Did quite a bit of research and choices for short boxes are limited as payload is about 1400 lbs. Bought a new Palamino Backpack SS800. Unfortunately, this dream turned into a nightmare as the canvas leaked and it was in the shop multiple times. Missed some good camping weather. Dealer was great and did repairs, but Palamino basically said "you bought it, we will warranty it for the year and then you are on your own". Okay, brand new obvious design and construction flaw to keep water out and they did not stand behind their brand. So beware!

  • We had the same problem with ours. You have my deepest sympathy. lizzie
  • That's a shame. Palomino isn't exactly known for top notch craftsmanship. I had a used one that worked ok until the leaking started (due to damage not poor construction...I think). They're inexpensive for a reason.
  • Post a pic of the leak or at least a description
Have had no problems and on my second one
Palomino owners need to be able to fix small problems before they get bigger.
First thing I did on both my campers was to put the top up and inspect the top
  • Wow - that sucks. Sorry to hear the Palamino didn't work out for you.

Was it leaking all over or just mainly in one area?

    Thanks for the heads up.
