Hit the override switch for interior lights.
On My Tahoe when you close the door it's 'Lights R Us' inside for several long minutes. It's not just a dome light like years ago it's about 10 lights that 'stay on' after you close the door.
If you have kids or anyone for that matter going in and out of the car all day those lights come on and 'stay on' after the door is closed and you don't think about it during the day cause you can't see them.
I took a bunch of people to the beach and they were going in and out of the car all day and night. All those lights coming on and staying on as long as they do is almost equal to leaving your headlights on.
I push the override button on all the interior lights. It's not marked on the Tahoe it is just a round button with no letters on it. Almost like they don't want you to know what it is for.
And check those 10 metal prong contacts in the back door if your SUV has them. They get corroded and not only do they not make contact they can make partial contact and cause stuff to turn on and not turn on. When those corroded pins caused the doors to lock on mine was when I wanted to drive it right into the ocean.:R
