Your F150 certainly can tow almost anything. Just ask the thousands upon thousands of 1-series owners who regularly tow big trailers. The stretch in the load capacity and tow capacity of one and two series trucks has widened in recent years, especially with gas engines and 2WD. It's the carrying that's the problem: putting that 3500 pounds directly over the rear axle. Your 7700 pound GVWR is almost as high as my old Dodge 2500's, 8800 pounds (or 9450 with the camper package single secondary spring). If it works for you, go for it.
