Thank you Bryan, for writing a pair of such useful articles. The point that has been ironed out here towards the end.....that levels of security and precaution is so highly dictated by the type of camping, the location you are in, the amount and value of what you have brought, and the number of people a part of your camp..... It's why the main statements in the article clearly state that it is all about personal comfort level. Our camping style has changed pretty drastically recently leaving me in a bit of....call it uncertainty....of what are we comfortable with. Couple that with us now camping in the east with so many more people and so much less public land. We have the need to re-evaluate our practices. And the need to be on the same page as our significant other. Your article is very well timed for us and provides a great starting point for that evaluation. I suspect these articles have caused (and provide really) more critical thinking of people's own habits than the vast majority of the reading here we do.
I'm not sure how clear my post reads having typed on a tiny iPhone screen in the dark, but hopefully it comes through that these articles are very well thought out and valuable to all of us willing to consider new ideas and ways to both be more secure and more comfortable in this lifestyle of TC'ing and exploring, whether in an RV park near the interstate or hanging on the "diamond" in the wind. By the way, did you smear chalk above and below your spot on the diamond to see if any climbers came by in the night?
Thanks again for all the insight!
