My first car was a 1952 chevy delux 235 inline 6 4 door with the three on the tree...dimmer and starter was in the floor. Both were problematic in the winter especially after driving in rain or slush and then freezing overnite temps. I kept a lite bulb next to mine.
My first truck was a 1958 GMC 258 6 cyl 4 speed granny geared tranny long narrow bed. This was in '61 and used the truck for some of my first hauling for hire.
Some one mentioned vacuum windshield wipers. For those that missed using them they were dangerous when it came time to pass a big rig making lots of spray. Passing in the rain wasn't for sissies.
Problem being when you mashed the go pedal to pass engine vacuum drops to zero and no wipers....let of the gas quick and back in it brought a swip...you keep that up till you make your pass.
Yeah...those were the good old days and good old cars....but I'll take todays cars or trucks over any of those old rattle traps.
