One ton duallys are scarce here too and as a result fetch top prices. Newer Fords and Chevs are pretty reliable as long as they have been properly driven and maintained but probably will be over budget. As mentioned the Cummins in a Ram is pretty near bulletproof although I too have heard a few complaints regarding the auto transmission. My 05 ctd has over 200,000 miles (originally sold in US) and no major issues in 9 years I have had it. The type of vehicle you are looking for is typically a work truck and gets rode hard and put up wet so you want to be very careful but good ones are out there.
