I hear you, we have a 3/4 ton Chevy gasser and use primarily interstates and major highways when traveling long distances that way we know we will run into fuel stations along the way. There's been a few times where we had to use smaller back roads to get to some out of the way, secluded boondocking sites where it can be challenging finding places to refuel. In those cases we will look ahead and plan possible fuel stops as needed.
We normally carry an extra 5 gallon jug a fuel in our truck bed that has a metal rolling tonneau cover, there has been a time or two that we had to resort to using it to get to the next fuel station. We only drive a couple of hours anyway before DW has to have a bathroom break or to get munchies and some beverages, we learned it's best not to push a gasser too far before refueling as that last 1/4 tank seems to disappear in a blink of the eye. Have a great time in Utah!!!
