Yeah, you've got it going on there with the stands. That's pretty much how I handle the jacking and supports, too, but have solid blocking for the task.westend wrote:
About how tall is that stand? I'm going to make some stands and was looking for a reference.
For years now with several different trailers I've found a 4x stand which is 6" high because it consists of four pieces of 2x screwed together to be just right for reducing tongue jack extension. :)
Only when we're situated on a tongue low campsite will I instead use a single 3/4" piece of plywood under the tongue jack.
At home our driveway slopes significantly to the street so I augment the 4x stack with an additional two more 4x stacks for a total stack height of 18".
What I'd like to do is steal an idea from another Forum member that used two interlocking wood pieces, the middle of each piece forming a dado or cut out for the other. The pieces slid into each other and formed a cross when upright. I've lost track of the thread where they were pictured but the design was novel because the two flat wood pieces slid apart to store easily or could even be used for leveling. I figured if I made them from some engineered plank I have around here that they would support considerable weight.
Like some of my other projects, I've got to get some Roun2it on it. - westendExplorer

What do you think of the flip down feet?
I hate those things. I had a trailer move forward and the foot folded up. The foot wasn't very stable, and when I stepped in the trailer, the slight rocking cause the trailer to move forward slightly, and the foot folded down just like it's supposed to when raising the jack. I promptly removed that POS.- rbpruExplorer IIWhat was the plastic jack rating? How many lbs. was it supposed to hold?

When it comes to jacks and jack stands I will not cheap out. Safety first.
Yes you guys are right. Should not have bought the plastic. It feel pretty heavy duty and is over a 1/4 in. thick. I should have known better.
