chime in here about your experiences or opinions regarding YOUR Wolf Creek Aluminum framed (or other similar brand) as compared to your experiences with any wood framed campers you are familiar with.
Our first camper was a Lance 820 (owned for 12.5-years) - wood frame, fiberglass, non-slide, single-pane glass with front cabover window.
New camper is a Lance 855S (owned 15-months and counting) - aluminum frame, fiberglass, 1-slide, dual-pane without a front cabover window, plus it features the new, one-piece, molded TPO front cap.
Of course, it's difficult to determine exactly what makes the difference, but my wife and I both feel like the 855S is much warmer and quieter than our 820. The 855S seems to handle the demands of off-roading just as well as the 820, but we definitely don't do some of the hair-raising rock-climbing I see others doing on the forum. So far, no known issues with the welds. Note: we primarily enjoy winter camping, so the heater and warmth factor is truly tested regularly.
