Porsche as a tow vehicle? Depends on the trailer . . .

I would imagine both would be listed as totaled.
The most interesting thing in the article to me was about the investigator who would recommend denying a claim if either was over weight specs.
For the weight police, I believe this is a justification for bringing weights up, especially for folks just starting out.
I would really be unhappy if that was my Porsche and trailer that was denied coverage.

You ever get a trailer trying to go faster than the tow vehicle down hill you will understand that most of these wight figures don't hold any water. Maybe tongue weight. No tongue weight it will eventually get away from you going down hill.

I personally wouldn't tow anything longer than about 22'-23' with a Cayenne. And I'd want a WD hitch with built-in sway control for a TT that long.

I agree, the GVWR of that model is 6900lbs. if it and the Porsche were both loaded it was likely over its rating. Sometimes the tail wags the dog.

So, that's the worst result I imagine when folks talk about towing long trailers with short wheelbase TVs. You can obviously overcome the capabilities of any TV, but it's a LOT easier with short wheelbase SUVs IMHO.

I would be curious if he was exceeding the 55 mph speed limit.

The consultant would determine the weights and if over would recommend denying insurance. Speaks for itself.

That is a long trailer for a short TV. Looks like it happened in a curve.
