Only about 5x as much !
True ,but the Camaro is slower than the 9IiGT2. Porsche has a smaller engine.Still they sell vastly more Porsches in Europe than Camaro's and you can add in Corvettes as well.Neither would be too good towing 5000lbs around that track. - 8_1_VanExplorer700HP Porsche 911 GT2 RS From $ 293,200.00*MSRP

This thread inspired me to check out Nurburgring runs on youtube. Some interesting ones, albeit sans trailer, just cars. I recommend the Camaro ZL1.
Camaro @ Nurburgring
Currently the record is held by Porsche a 911 GT2 that took it off it's VW owned rival and stable mate ,Lamboghini. It is now 6 min and 47secs
Porsche 911 GT 2 around Nurburing. Current Record Holder
And look at the difference in cost between the Camaro and those other two vehicles. - RobertRyanExplorer

Does the truck have to be stock? Can I tune it? Can I pick my tires?
I would kill that car with any of the big 3 diesels if I get to tune it and pick my tires and do other things to the truck. :B
You can see why Europeans tow with cars. It also brings back memories of the Canadian who showed people how to tow 30ft Caravans( Trailers) with cars.
Very different mindset as regards towing/commercial vehicles in general.Yes they do tow pretty hefty trailers but they are a rareity for RV use. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerDoes the truck have to be stock? Can I tune it? Can I pick my tires?

Just over 60 mph average over a 12.9 mi course with 73 corners and 1000 ft in elevation changes is not too shabby. Jackie Stewart didn't call it the Green Hell for nothing. That trailer must be a little more special than it looks. David Brown, the DB in Aston Martin started out building tractors as well.
Towing I conservatively estimate a 5000lb trailer.

Other than brand name attention, it bears little relevance on real world conditions. I am sure that countries in Europe have speed limits that also apply to vehicles that are towing. I don't see it as a challenge for any of the world's truck manufacturers to send their vehicle(s) there to try and break the record set by Porsche. A truck will never have the handling/cornering capabilities of a car. Of course one of the world's truck makers can turn the tables a little and do the test a different way. The Porsche can tow a 7,000 lb. plus truck on a transport trailer around that track. Then the truck gets to run around the track towing the Porsche on a trailer. The obvious outcome would not be acceptable to the automaker then. :)
Sorry your rationale is a bit strange. " "Truck" maker would be a Pickup Truck maker.
would have a hard time getting around that course in an acceptable time towing. There have been world speed records set by Porsche towing. Recently broken by a twin tubocharged F250 towing a tiny Caravan nowhere near 5000lbs. No US Pickup maker would even attempt " The Green Hell"
Yes what Porsche did is very relevant to Europeans as they use cars to tow ( it was a Panamerica) and Porsche has set outright Soeed towing records ( in a straight line)
