- wilber1ExplorerJust over 60 mph average over a 12.9 mi course with 73 corners and 1000 ft in elevation changes is not too shabby. Jackie Stewart didn't call it the Green Hell for nothing. That trailer must be a little more special than it looks. David Brown, the DB in Aston Martin started out building tractors as well.
- DaveF-250SDExplorerOther than brand name attention, it bears little relevance on real world conditions. I am sure that countries in Europe have speed limits that also apply to vehicles that are towing. I don't see it as a challenge for any of the world's truck manufacturers to send their vehicle(s) there to try and break the record set by Porsche. A truck will never have the handling/cornering capabilities of a car. Of course one of the world's truck makers can turn the tables a little and do the test a different way. The Porsche can tow a 7,000 lb. plus truck on a transport trailer around that track. Then the truck gets to run around the track towing the Porsche on a trailer. The obvious outcome would not be acceptable to the automaker then. :)
- BedlamModeratorI learned to tow with one of the first 4x8 folding trailers that had 8" wheels. My current 5x8 has 2x6 decking, sealed lights, 3500 lb axle and 15" wheels. It is as stout as you can get without needing brakes (GTWR is registered at 2990) and weighs over 700 lbs empty. Loading two motorcycles or one off-road toy comes close to the maximum VW tow rating, but the trailer can handle much more with a larger tow vehicle. The worst part of towing a narrow short trailer with a larger vehicle is that you cannot see it behind you when backing and it will be crooked before you even get a chance to correct it.

LOL... And a DRW truck. I got a laugh yesterday when I saw a DRW truck pulling a camper that just about any .5 ton truck could easily pull.
You would be laughing even harder seeing my 8x5 utility trailer being towed by my Ram 5500. This same trailer is also towed by my VW TDI.
:B
I just sold a little 4x6 trailer with 12" wheels to a guy driving a F-350 CC dually, that was pretty funny looking when he pulled away. RobertRyan wrote:

2017 Chevy HD vs Ford Super Duty vs Ram HD Ike Gauntlet Review: d
The last video is the only one that makes sense for real world towing.
The video of the Porsche towing the trailer
is real world towing that is if you live in Europe. Ike Gauntlet is not. Can any US Pickup tow a 5000lb trailer around Nurburing and beat the Sportscar time? It is a combination of towing ability, handling acceleration and speed..
. Personally I do not think it is posdible
And I seriously doubt the Porsche can compete with our diesels in a Super Ike pull.
Conversely US Diesel Pickups would be struggling to come anywhere near the time of the Porsche around Nurburing
Agreed.... These are two entirely different type of vehicles designed for different applications.- RobertRyanExplorer
