Positive GM news?

About a week ago DOTG (figure it out )accused me of posting negative GM news as I sat in the rain in Florida.
He was wrong as it was not raining, (just early in the morning before sun was up) and I did not consider it as negative.

Here is a new story but is it positive? :@

I think its intended to be..:S

But I really didn't know these folks could see into the future to know exactly what a truck bought today will sell for in 5 years.
Wonder if they could pick some stocks for us..?

CHEVY - the cheapest truck?

Interesting figures nevertheless, and this is something that most folks never even think about as they buy their vehicles cause they like the _______ that it has.
  • I know here GM retains its valu better. One reason is , where I live, there aren't many used ones on lots. You can pick from many Ram 2500 and 3500. They're for sale everywhere. Ford is second, but not many GM. I'm talking about 3/4 and one ton. Do most people hold on to their GM longer?
  • LOL, PFN (psychic friends network). I wouldn't spend any money on one either.
  • Was this study commissioned by Dionne Warrick's psychic friends? I guess one way to look at it is because the new GM is basically the one from five years ago they have good data on it.
  • All I know is, last Monday (March 24), we traded our 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 dually diesel Duramax that we purchased in 2006 (2 years old). We financed just a little over $20,000. On trade Monday, the dealer gave a little over $16,500 for the truck.

I don't know what the future has in store, but I do know what "history" has done!

Funny thing is, you can look at these reports from KBB, JD Power, and CR and they all will come back with a different winner. It all depends on what your statistical model is. I can believe that the 5.3 Silverado would cost less than my 5.7 Tundra over 5 years because the Silverado gets better gas mileage, and it should because it's a smaller motor. That savings in gas can really add up over the long haul.
  • GM truck owners and NADA plus KBB already knew this for a fact but it's nice to see it put together in black and white finally. Buy one or the other brands and pay out an additional $6 to 8 thousand hard earned dollars out of your pocket while owning it. All adds up to a no brainer as to WHAT to buy in the first place! It's like getting an after taxes withheld clear money pay raise!
  • If older men buy GM trucks, this makes sense . Older wiser men know whats good in the long run. Best way to spend hard earned money.

    Marginally positive, I think.

It is interesting though. And I've always wondered the same thing.

Note that aside from the Titan the numbers are pretty close between trucks. Moreover I never factor the TCO or future value. Why? Because no matter what you do its a loss. Buy what you like and enjoy it. Besides, my TCO is much lower than most others because I never buy new and I drive them until they have almost no value left.
