I think it depends on the brand.
go to youtube, type in.....Awning Manual Override Luxury Fifth Wheels Augusta RV
on mine, i remove the screw and manually roll it back in. If you do not have a 2nd person to hold the strap , tie the strap to a picnic table or something heavy enough to hold it.
