Power windows intermittent ???

I have an 03 Ford F350 7.3L extended cab. Mostly the power windows go up and down as they were designed to. Occasionally they will not operate momentarily, however the last time this happened they quit for about 2 minutes. I had taken the truck in to a shop, they said they found power going to the drivers door master switch but not going out so they replaced it. Now I am back to the same old problem. Any ideas where I might look? I know intermittent stuff is tough. Thanks

  • I just had a similar problem with my 2003 F450 repaired at a Ford dealer. No indy mechanic I ever talked to felt confident about fixing a problem that wasn't presenting when the truck was in his shop.

Mine was a bit worse.. both the radio and windows would stop working at the same time. Sometimes for minutes, sometimes for hours, sometimes for days. Aggravating to say the least.

My fix turned out to be something called a 'battery saver'. I do not know if that was a board or something, but since it cost me $800 I figure it was a computer.

There is one simple solution you can try. Check your owner's manual section on Fuses, and find the relay called "Accessory Delay Relay". It's one of the black cubes in the fuse panel under the steering wheel. You can find them at any auto parts store or truck stop. That may work and it's a heck of a lot cheaper.
