PP/HA question

Ok i have wondered this for years, and I have never seen one of these mysterious creatures in the wild, so I figure it is time to ask this question.

I know there have been times that I disconnect my sway/ weight distribution bars because I am going to be introducing a lot of roll between the truck and the TT. I know that in some cases people that have not done this end up twisting the TT. I imagine that you would want to sill perform this same action with The PP/HA. Am I thinking that is possible or am I way out in left field?

IF you are not sure what I am talking about here is an example. I am turning off of the main road into an unimproved are that drops away fairly sharply so the truck will be rolled right and down and the tt will still be somewhat level on the pavement.

    Wasn't even thinking - could simply loosen the jacks until there is no tension on them. You just can't remove them or bad things happen...

    To answer your question... Yes you can release the weight distribution bars on a propride hitch. They will remain attached but the tension is completely adjustable.

    3X on the never unhitch until parked. I have a Blue Ox and have never had an issue on any towing or parking situation.

    I do occasionally jockey the TT around the yard without the bars, but never on the road.

    I do not see why you would.

    We have been and are going to a CG in S VA and it has a turn like that into it and we never worry about ours. Just turn in.

    We had a flat on I-40 on the front of our TV in June. I use an Equal-izer WD hitch, and could not jack the front of the truck off the ground. It finally dawned on me that with the WD hitch connected, I was trying to lift the entire truck and trailer tongue with the jack, basically pivoting everything around the trailer axles. I disconnected the hitch and jacked it up as usual.

    This may be RV 101 stuff, but I had never thought about it until faced with it.

    I can't imagine a manufacturer making a hitch that when properly installed would have to be removed at anytime while in use.

    Never disconnect and the transition from the road to my driveway is pretty substantial. I've never heard of anyone disconnecting spring bars unless there is some type of clearance issue.

    By the way, you cannot do that on the HA - the spring bars act as connecting links on the bottom of the hitch. You would have major problems if you did.

    I suspect it is the same with the PP as well.
