Practical tow capacities not the extremes or limits?

I'm 99% sure the 8.1 came with either the Allison tranny, or. 6 speed manual. I would be leery of the 8.1havimg 6 owners, why did no one like the truck.

I've got the 6.0 with the 4spd, and tow about the same weight. It gets it done, but you will slow down on the mountains. Also get used to hearing it turn 3000-4500 rpm. It makes its peak power north of 4000 rpm.
