I was thinking the exact same thing. It's a good motor but not immune from lemons. Anyway, everywhere I've read, the 8.1l is always the way to go but those are always the praises from people that tow 10k or more. I'm more interested in the 7500lb range. I know the 6.0l motor will get up there in revs and I'm ok with it I guess so long as it can do it. I'm not looking to go up in the mountains regularly, just maybe once a year, the rest of the time will be bumming around the Midwest. I also want to do this next truck right and not end up with another inadequate Expedition tow capabilities. It was rated for 8650 tow capacity and in prime conditions it did well but if it was windy or hilly, it sucked bad. I think the 6.0l would be ok but I thought the same with the Expedition. So after finding an 8.1l in the same price range, it made my decision more difficult.
