If he's never going to go with a larger trailer or move to a 5er then it's a fine question but plenty of people have been down this path and ended up upgrading a second time or having to compromise on the RV upgrade due to limitations imposed by the tow vehicle. People are just trying to caution him that now might be the time to consider the more capable tow vehicle. Once you've gone past a half ton there's not much difference in price, ride, or fuel economy between a 3/4 and 1 ton and the 1 ton provides more flexibility in the future. Why some people get so upset about people offering useful advice and perspective based on experience I'll never understand.
