Seriously, I am looking forward to driving all three of the trucks next year. Performance will factor into the decision in a very significant way.
It would be interesting to see how the GM truck would do if it had the 8 speed transmission and the current HP/Torque numbers against the Ram and Ford's higher output.
I think an 8 speed would shift way to much while towing unless it locks out the OD gears? I'm not sure how it would be better then a 6 speed. All three seam to have good 6 speed transmissions with grade breaking so why make it more complicated and expensive. Just a few thoughts!
Think about a class 8 truck- lots of gears and they don't shift too much. More gears allows you to get the best multiplier of your hp/torque and keep the engine in it's sweet spot.
No different than a truck with a 3.73 rear end having to compete against a truck with a 4.10 rear end.
