- goducks10ExplorerProPride for me. Had a used HA. Just like the features of the PP better.
- camp-n-familyExplorerI have a Hensley but if I were buying new would probably go with the PP just for the adjustable stinger. I've had to swap 3 stingers (every time i got a new tt or tv) at considerable cost.
- 93Cobra2771ExplorerI would go with whichever one pops on craigslist first. That's what I did. There have been three local to me in the last three years. I bought two of them. One for $450. One for $200. Not typos. Both Hensleys. In very good condition other than crappy paint. The third one I put a friend on, he paid $800 and got lots of extras including a cover.
You can't go wrong with either. My opinion, go with the one that is the least expensive. - lanerdExplorer III had the HA when we had our TT....but like it was mentioned above, the PP3 is a newer version. PP3 would be my choice.
However, if you can (like I did last time) find a good buy on a used HA, you shouldn't hesitate to get it. You just can't go wrong with an HA.
As for the people who say their regular friction type WD/SC units (Equilizer, Dual Cam, etc) work just fine, are usually those who have never used an HA or PP3 and would probably change their tune if they had.
I've had just about all the different types and makes of weight distribution and/or sway control, and I can truthfully say that if I ever go back to pulling a TT again, it would definitely have either the HA or PP3 for a hitch.
Ron - mbuttsExplorerI am fortunate to live within an hour of both manufacturers. I visited both and was much more impressed with ProPride's hitch. I know they are very similar, but the 3P was thicker and more heavy-duty looking, in my opinion. Sean even drove my Expy and trailer around a bit to offer help in set up of the hitch.
I trolled Craigslist for about a year and couldn't find a used Hensley or 3P for a decent price (rusted out pieces of junk for $1,500? No way!).
I ended up purchasing a new 3P for the price of a rebuilt Hensley. - lbrjetExplorerI don't need either one. I have 16,700 miles on my hitch with zero complaints. That being said, I would pick the propride. The owner Sean would be the best to ask about both hitches as he an expert on the Hensley, as well as his own. He can tell you the differences and can explain them to you. He will also help you with the setup and answer your questions.
- hawkeye-08Explorer IIII don't have either, but did research them. I would go with the Propride since the inventor of the hitch is with that company and it has improvements that are not licensed to Hensley. I'm sure someone will correct me if I got that wrong, but that is what I remember from my research.
