- Kayteg1Explorer IIOil companies rule the World and they don't want to disclosure too much, but common knowledge is that from crude you can produce XX % of diesel and YY % of gasoline.
When diesel priced drop, that would make me thinking that with slow economy the trucking is not using much of diesel, while personal cars still use good amount of gasoline.
In Europe most of cars drive on diesel or propane. Somehow they manage to sell propane for 1/3 price of gasoline.
Compare that ratio in US. - tomman58ExplorerThe Saudis used to say as long as oil was 40 bucks a barrel they were happy. With it at 100 bucks can you imagine the love fest there?
They are trying to drive the fracking bunch out of business where they can and the regroup. They have been doing well with that till lately.
As we get more and more fuel efficient cars we will not need big oil. - RaftenExplorerDiesel powers the world. Some parts of the world are experiencing economic slow downs so the demand overseas for diesel has faded some.
- tsetsafExplorer IIIRegarding the drop in diesel vs reg gas... it is being driven by geopolitical pricing wars brought on by Saudi Arabia pumping like mad. In a lot of Asian and Middle Eastern countries diesel is imported and there is a spot market for it. Doesn't directly impact US diesel but does have an impact. I am expecting sub $2 fuel by xmas.
Overall this is related to a collapse in commodities driven by the "realization" that the economy is in deep doo-doo. If you want to read about it in layman terms look up Harry Dent. - silversandExplorerRegular gas in the Southern Quebec area is: $1.17 CAD (.84 USD) a liter
Diesel in the Southern Quebec area is: $1.07 CAD (.77 USD) a liter

What a thing to say. What does this statement benefit? I am trying to decide if it is a Flame, Troll or simply a poor choice of words. I will give it the benefit of doubt, and go with poor choice of words.

Gas $3.69
Diesel $2.89
Yes, we do save about 10-20 cents a gallon on base.
"Kalifornia" wants to raise the gas tax to over $.80 per gallon,
and then stuff you with a surcharge if you use more than a certain number of gallons per month. They also want to raise the registration, and taxes on internal combustion engines. So you see, they begged us to conserve on fuel, and buy electrics, and super efficient tiny econoboxes. Then since they don't get the same tax revenue from less gas being bought. they want to have their greedy progressive projects, and raise the taxes in a state with the highest taxes in the nation now.
I have three vehicles, so with my Wrangler, my Cherokee, and my ram, I am paying out almost $1000 a year in registrations and taxes. AND...of course I get to pass the stupid smog every year, as my vehicles are all older. ( 2006 Jeep, 2001 Cherokee, and 2005 Ram 3500) - Old-BiscuitExplorer III
