Prices...Prices

Looking at Travel Trailers today. What is a fair discount from MSRP?

    Yep - 25 - 30%,

Here is a good site for information:
    See Dealer Cost

Also checking pricing across the nation, can give idea of possiblities, some dealers, post close to selling prices, vs. MSRP.

    Good luck!

  • I just picked up a 2015 Funfinder 28 ft TT for 23,000. List price was 34,000. They even gave me 750 more for my trade than two other dealers I tried before that.

The trick is to find the "real" MSRP. Those dealers that provide 40% probably have inflated the MSRP to start with. When negotiating a price on our 2014 Cougar I received 4 quotes from factory authorized dealers. These quotes all used the same "retail factory sheet" so I could follow their pricing accurately. 25 to 30% was the average discount.
Dealer location (and service) can be critical so don't bypass your local dealer to save a few dollars. You could eat that up quickly in transportation costs for warranty work.
Be polite and upfront with the dealers and they will work with you.
    Good luck,

Go online and get quotes from rvwholsalers.com and rvdirect.com and start there. They will give you very competitive prices that are normally much lower than local dealers. Both are good companies to deal with. Not saying you have to buy from them, but you can use their pricing as leverage. I got my local dealer to match their pricing, but I was ready to order from them if need be.
  • 40% is not an unrealistic number by many accounts. These things are hiddeously marked up for what they are. We bought ours for almost 40% off. Sometimes the key is you have to be willing to walk and never go back.

Yep, next years models announced and shipping soon, a certain dealer has a lot of current years models in stock, then manufacturer announces a rebate, you are paying cash.
    Boom....40% !
  • I just checked a local jayco dealers website and compared it to the dealer cost website. They have 2014 jay flights with 2015 msrp so they are adding about 4k to the price. Then knocking 6k off to make it look good when in reality they were only about 2k off of msrp. Something to watch for when buying a new unit.
