Disclaimer... if experiences bother you block this post now.
I hope this will help others understand that we are all different.
Something to be considered by a few of us...
Cold is almost debilitating as we age our metabolisms slow... we eat much less food... we have less surplus fat calories to consume as the energy needed to keep us warm.
So what? If you want to continue traveling, camping, fishing, what ever you want to do YOU have to be comfortable or you'll turn your camper into a yard orniment (and we all know there are far to many of those already.)
Janet has a thyroid condition... the one that makes her very cold at 68°F and uncomfortably cool all the way to 74°F... I want her with me all of the time... usually within a few feet of me.
Luckily, over the last few years I've lost 53 pounds... I don't have many spare calories to heat with either... I can tollerate her 74°F but not a bit more. If I move around much it's to get her blanket and then I'm too hot. She has lost a lot of weight too... adding to her cold discomfort.
My point is... a comforter is fine for some, sleeping bags are OK but some of us old folk aren't into roughing it or even being uncomfortable... we have done it... but we have nothing to prove now.
We sleep between clean sheets, we enjoy having our meals without parkas, gloves, and toboggins... with a little effort making modifications and spending money wisely we can be very comfortable three seasons of the year and be OK in the winter as long as we avoid the camper walls.
We are all aging, and it's good for you to have a plan.
I believe that the OP mentioned an aging factor (I read something like that somewhere... I'm aging)
We are a long way from tents, station wagons, and pop-ups... and it is nice to be this long way in many ways. PlatCats, battery warmers, generators, propane, extra insolation... and yes... even the camper furnaces.
Throw on some fleece, and hit the road,
I hope you understand.
