Buzzcut, is that an isolator or just an automatic reset overcurrent cutout. (can't see if there are any coil terminals)
To the OP, since your unit isn't switched, an easy way to do it is to energise the contactor/relay by energising the coil from an ignition circuit. Not foolproof and does mean that the two batteries are tied together when starting the engine which isn't always a good thing. A better way is via an oil pressure switch which closes when there is oil pressure.
An alternative is to use something like a Blue sea SI-ACR which allows bi directional charging but cuts out if neither battery is getting charged.
Diode-type split chargers are a lot cheaper but generally dumb and the voltage drop across the diodes does reduce the potential charge rate
