Propane on while driving- refrigerator

No. the fridge is designed to operate on the highway.

My propane is always on at the bottles... the fridge is usually on AUTO and powered by my inverter + battery bank while I travel. If I'm headed to a camp location without electric hookup, I will switch the fridge to LP before I head out to conserve battery power.

Do not forget to shut the fridge OFF 'before' having your propane tank filled. For everyone's safety during the fill.

Trained/certified operator will have everyone leave MH and will verify propane vapor valve is closed prior to filling.

I leave mine on,what the dealer says is partly true. When the refer is loaded and cold soaked it will stay cold for about 8 hrs or at least mine will.My freezer has kept ice for 16hrs.

The only time I shut mine off is when I go through the Hampton Bridge Tunnel or the the other on on 664.

Do a test - get your fridge up to temp, put a thermometer in it. Then shut it off and check the temp after 6 hours. Then look up food safe temps. I've never seen the need to do such a test as I operate my fridge the way it was designed to operate.

always on for us, its never blown out, always stayed cold in the fridge
it's designed for that service, that's why fridges no longer run on 12 volt

I wouldn't bake a roast on the oven, keep the water heater on or run the furnace on the road but the fridge is designed for it

I do shut it off when refuelling, IIRC, that's required by law in many places as well as many ferries and tunnels

I wonder if propane powered vehicles leave it on while they are driving?

Do they still make a three way fridge? Had one in our 1990 and 1992 trailers, when plug into 12v the fridge ran off the 12v system, when plug into 110 a/c it would switch to 110 a/c or you could have it run off the propane. Back then the dealers told us the it was illegal to run propane while driving. Of course if the dealer says something it must be true just like the internet today. :)
