I have never had this happen... But it is something that is my worst nightmare. I often stop just to check that I turned the pump off.
I am most worried about it being on, and a faucet gets bumped etc, while under tow.
My ideal system would one that cuts the power to the pump when ever the 7 pin is connected to the the TV.
Thinking out loud here... Perhaps a 12 volt continous duty cycle solenoid wired into the 7 pin charge wire. Would need some sort of diode wired in to keep the 12volts from the battery from energizing the solenoid.
Other than figuring out the wire sizes and diode, it is pretty straight forward. The ford type solenoids are available in continuous duty versions. A generic 12 volt relay could probably be used as well... Gotta look at some diagrams.
This would make for a totally automatic system, that would prevent the pump from running while under tow.
