Question about 1991 Lance 880

I'm considering purchase of this TC to go on my 2001 Dodge 2500 diesel crew cab long bed. Does anybody know the specified dry weight of this camper? I found a 1993 Lance brochure that lists it at 2728 lbs for the extended cabover model, like the one I'm looking at. Would this be the same for a 1991 model?

The listed payload for my truck is 2,490 lbs, so less than the camper. But the camper would be well within the rear axle weight rating of my truck and give me some capacity for cargo. (I have the "camper package" on my truck, which includes overload springs, rear swaybar, etc.)

Is it OK to exceed the GVWR if I'm within the GAWR?
  • They don't list a Lance 880 in the 1991 Brochure, they do have it in the 1992 Brochure they list it at 2385 lbs. for the standard cabover and 2505 lbs. for the extended cabover. Dry weight. They do mention that for 1992 they introduced the 880.

  • We own a 93 880 I can barely make out the weight tag its about 3050 with propane & water full. Its a heavy camper for our old 99 Dodge dually 4 x 4. Its been a great camper over the yrs!
  • I'll exceed GVWR as long as I am within Axle Rating(s) & Tire Load Ratings.

As for the weight of 1991..........??
Lance on-line archives only go back to 1993 so contact Lance and inquire.
