Question about installing Timbrens

I'm gonna be installing Timbrens on the rear of my Tundra in a few days. It looks like how the axle and springs are situated(with the leaf springs on top of the axle) that you can just remove the u-bolts (one side at a time of course) and install the Timbrens without jacking up the truck at all. It doesn't look like the axle can move at all. Is that correct?

    Fords just replace bump stops. Also I just checked a Tundra website forum and Timbrens replace the bump stops.

    Got it, so just remove the u-bolts and install the Timbrens. Thanks.

    I would not remove the u-bolts without first supporting the weight of the truck.

    It's not worth taking a chance just to save a few minutes.

    I understand what you're saying, but support the truck how? From what I can see, nothing can move if the weight of the truck is on the leaf springs. The leaf springs have a locating pin. It seems more hazardous if you were to jack the truck up and the axle could drop down.

    Place a jack under the axle, lift the truck about a foot, place jack stands under frame on each side of the truck, then lower the jack until the springs are in a neutral position.

    I understand what you are saying about the locating pin holding the axle in place.

    I would not work under a truck like that. Just my opinion.

    Why do you have to remove the u bolts? On my Dodge you undo two bolts remove the stops and put the Timbrens in there place with the two bolts. No need to undo the u bolts off the axle.

    Was just going to ask the same question, but after Googling around, found a pic on the Tundra forums, weird design!

    Yeah, on the Tundra, the bump stop in on the bottom and faces up, just like the Timbren in your posted photo. Doesn't come down from the top like on other trucks. It's held on by the u-bolts.
