Been searching for a tire with a higher load rating than 3064lbs, but can't find anything available for a 16x6.5" rim. And cant find anything other than the Rickson or Visions. Would like to be able to go to 17 or 18, don't really wish to spend a couple grand on new tires and rims.
GM is very tight lipped regarding the load rating on their wheels. The most anyone, that I know of, has gotten from them is the stock 16x6.5 rims are rated comparable to the stock tires. If you're going to go to a larger tire for the load rating you should also upgrade the wheels. If you're not too worried about looks, hit eBay and get a set of 16x7 steel wheels off a 3500. They're rated for the stock 3500's 265/75-16 tires rated 3415lbs which will increase your tire/wheel capacity ~750 lbs. I put 265/75-16 tires on my 2008 and had a little tire rubbing on the plastic fender liner in the front wheel wells with the wheel turned full to stop, but not enough I had to trim the plastic. Due to the pathetic clearance GM gives the front tires, a larger tire may require at least some plastic trimming and possibly a little lifting up front, either a few turns on the torsion bars or an actual lift kit.
Maybe something like these?
