I've always wondered about having the entire TC's 120VAC system run from a larger inverter like a Victron or Magnum Energy 3000 watt model. This way, when the A/C goes on, the inverter handles the locked rotor amps, so the generator can be smaller. Ideally, just one Honda eu2000i.
That is exactly the setup I have, the Magnum 3000 PSW Hybrid, and yes, it does exactly as advertised.
I have a 13,5kBTU roof air, an upgrade over the normal 11k. My Honda eu2000 will run it, and when it comes to starting the compressor, the inverter will sync-match and assist the load to help the generator start the compressor.
When the compressor shuts off, the inverter sees the drop in load and automatically switches back to charging the batteries off the generator.
You can also set the all of this to what ever thresholds you want, eg, assist the generator @5 amps load, 10amps load, 15amps, etc. With the adjustibility in the menu system, you can run a 13.5k roof air off of a Honda eu1000--inverter will help when compressor is running, then charge the batteries when the compressor cycles off. I did that back when I had a 1000.
And bonus - Magnum is 100% made in Everett, WA in-house, not farmed out to China. I've met them in person at the last Seattle RV show, great people.
