quick question on using stone in oven to prevent burning

actually, I think I just found my answer. I have looked up pictures online, and I see most put the cookie stone on top of flame and put the grid on top the stone.. and then put food on the grid. looks like I will do this, except when wife bakes cookies she will take the grid out and cook the cookies right on the stone itself....
