quick question on using stone in oven to prevent burning

I have read that you can use tiles or a cookie stone in the oven? I have a nice cookie stone that fits in there perfect. my question is where do I place it? obviously I would place it above the flames...

"Everybody must get stones" :) I'm the cook in this family and now I need to get a stone! A few cast iron pans and such....now a stone...better go to the scales someday! Any preferred stone source...link please.
