Our travel plans are no travel plans. Less than 200 miles a days and stay for 2 days. We can't always follow this rule but we like this travel guideline. There's some really easy phone apps that help finding off the grid travel stops.
I have no long-term plans as well, but driving in south states from about 80 nights last summer we could sleep with no AC for about 3.
Honda running overnight takes about 1.5 gallon of gas, what is not bad, but with my senior discount I had $7/night campgrounds with electricity in most popular destinations.
Also driving in areas like TX - 200 miles daily limit makes you sleeping on side of the road, or on the back of gas station.
My daily limit is 300, but I stretched it to 450 on couple of occasions to sleep in nicer area.
