Good suggestion re: the natural hill to block sound. That's what I do.
They make sound deadening board where you could build some kind of vented box to place the generator in.
I have had great results using this type of product along with carpeting and insulation on walls and ceilings to insulate rooms, keeping the sound of my band to a minimum and not go beyond my property lines.
