R001 Replacement keys

Broke off a key a while back for the forward storage lockers. Bought two replacement keys off Amazon (Southco, black handle, R001). Though they will lock and unlock the hatches they are somewhat difficult to get in and out. I've already slightly bent one. Any suggestions on how to cure the problem or a different key mfg?
  • If you chose the exact replacement then they should have fit in and turn smoothly. Are you sure that you got an exact match? Perhaps check with your dealer as they should go into the latch with ease. About the only thing you could try is some graphite powder available at home stores. Dont use wd40 etc as that will gum them up badly.
  • Edges are too sharp. Take the key to a place that duplicates them. Have them buff it on their deburring wheel that's part of the duplicating machine.
You could even VERY gently buff it on a wire wheel but be carefull, keys are soft and wear away easily.
  • Don’t us graphite either. Cam locks were lubed at the factory with white lithium.

Use a Teflon lube like Tri Flo.
