"And after a stint on the long and lazy Pacific Coast Highway, we hit a mixture of 22.3 mpg. This was an average figure for us, though one member in our Ram 1500 motorcade hit an applause-worthy 27 mpg."

That's about the only complaint I have right now with the Eco... I've had it almost a year and put 24k miles on it in that time. My lifetime average MPG is just under 16 MPG (I'm never in the 55 MPH sweet spot). 90% of the time it is in DD mode, which has caused me to ponder a second car for the brunt of that duty as I put about $400/mo of fuel in right now.
This sure makes me glad I still have my '04.5 2500 CTD and use it as a DD mostly and as a TV for my 5er.

If it has the proper GVWR, that diesel maybe a perfect choice for those of us with smaller 5ers

Thats what I was originally hoping for, but it doesn't seem like they increased payload at all, so VERY doubtful to tow a fiver. This seems like a GREAT engine for the average half ton user. Great mileage, can go to the home improvement store, can pull an average travel trailer. While its not what I would have hoped for (maybe the diesel Titan will have 2000+ lbs payload), it sure seems like a great idea and I am interested to see it in action.
