Someone is seriously ignorant with regard to the significance of "horsepower" and "torque."
A diesel with 240 HP and 450 ft-lbs won't outrun a gasser with 365 HP and 250 ft-lbs in a drag race, but the lower HP diesel will drag a heavy trailer up a mountain both faster
No it won't. HP is a measure of time and performance. Torque is just a twisting factor. I can manufacture as much torque to the rear tires as I want with gear selection. One can't manufacture HP no matter how many gears you have.
If torque made such a great towing vehicle my 65 HP John Deere tractor with 12 forward speeds and puts down a zillion ft/lbs of torque to the ground should make a great tow vehicle. It's not. It's slow as the day is long because it only has 65 HP. Can it tow a lot without stalling? Yep, sure can. But it is slow because it only has 65 HP.
My big bad 200 HP 6.5 diesel that puts out 425 ft/lbs of torque would get annihilated in a tow off up hill with a 365 HP EB. Why? Because my diesel only puts out 200 HP!
If torque "drag will drag a heavy trailer up a mountain both faster"
just what happened here? And this is with the teeny tiny EB 2.7 motor.
Go on, I want you to explain it to everybody here what happened in this video if torque will get you up the mountain faster.
