I went from a 2010 F150 with just max tow to a 2012 Ram 2500 CTD. I put Michelin MS2 E rated tires on the F150 along with Rancho 9000 shocks. I don't think I could feel much difference in the ride between the two. What I do find is the towing is better. Power aside the handling from the 2500 is much better. I know the HD comes with upgraded springs and tires but it's not a 3/4 ton truck. It's close but the running gear is not strong enough for severe duty.
An F150 HD would tow my 9000lb 5th wheel fine. But I wanted more bulk on the truck end. it's harder for a 9000lb 5th wheel to move a 7800lb truck around than a 5800lb truck
