Ram 3500 4.10's expected MPG

So we're already thinking of trading our new toyhauler and since I'm on the upper limits of my 2500 already I'm truck shopping again.

Towing around 70 mph I usually get around a 9 mpg average with my 3.42's in all types of terrain. I'm looking at a 2018 dually with the Aisin and 4.10's. I can't imagine it getting worse, but will it ? Right now I'm only towing around 14K lbs, but that could go up considerably real soon.

Just curious on what to expect different between the two trucks from those that might have had both at one time.
  • We have a 2018 RAM 3500 DRW 2x4 with a 4:10 axle ratio, our unloaded mileage is 16 to 17 depending on how heavy my foot is. When towing our Redwood at a weight of 17K so our combined weight is right at 26k I get 9 to 10 mpg again depending on how heavy my foot is and the terrain. I usually tow at about 68 mph and get a fairly consistent 10 mpg on flat ground.
  • 33k combined West Coast hand calc over many tanks 9mpg average. 35k double towing 8.75. 2015 RAM Dually AISIN 4.10's. This is at 60mpg @ 1,750 rpm in 6th.
  • I understand new trucks do better, but my 07 4x2 quad cab dually does 10.5-11.5 towing my 13,500 pound fiver all day. BTW it does have 4.10 RE. Empty I have seen 17 all day at 70.
