The new 6.7 has a broad power band. Pick a gear ratio the gives a comfortable RPM in the gear you are going to tow in and the speed you want to tow.
For me the 3:42's in 5th tow about 60 MPH at a nice low (think quiet) RPM. Bobtailing at 80 in 6th is only 1750 MPM. Best of all worlds with our 16K 5th wheel. Would not want to trade my 3.42's and the Aisin's first and second gear ratio's make them work great for towing. NOW with a 68RFE that is a different story as it has a higher 1st and 2nd gear.
Also remember that the LT235/80R17's on duallies are 31.8" or so, while the SRW 18" and 20" tires are 33.2" or so.
