What other options MUST I get? I'm so confused. I can't even tell what I get when I move up from Tradesman to SLT to Longhorn to Laramie.
Spend some time working with the "build and price" feature on Ram's website. On a Tradesman you can order all the "functional" options (many are standard) you could possibly want- air, tilt, cruise, power windows and door locks, heated power mirrors, tow package, air suspension, backup camera, etc. For luxury options like heated seats, navigation, higher end sound systems and the like you will need to move up to the higher packages like the Laramie. The website does a decent job of telling you exactly what you get with each package.
Yes I agree that would be a great start. A lot of options can be had on the Tradesman package at an extra cost but when you move up to the higher trim levels those options become standard, of course at a higher cost also but you usually get many other items thrown in to make those higher trim levels more attractive. The Laramie trim level has what a lot of people prefer in options. You can start there and either go up or down depending on what bells and whistles you like.
X2 I also have a Tradesman, but what I call a "loaded Tradesman". When I was shopping I found some dealers versions of them were true work trucks and some, like mine, were virtually a SLT.
I'd also make sure it has the 5th wheel prep.
