So for my purposes, a TC, it sounds like diesel isn't strictly necessary. But for more long term flexibility, and durability, and the ability to throw a trailer on the back along with the TC, or to switch to a good size 5th wheel in the future, I think diesel is the way to go. Shout if you disagree becase it costs $9000 more!
And it sounds like if i get the diesel, I can do absolutely fine with the 68RFE. I can do more with the AISIN but it may not be worth the $2800 upcharge? I'm struck by the immense towing capacity of this set up > 30,000 pounds.
I am pretty set on the DRW. I would prefer to drive SRW, but payload makes DRW no brainer. With a TC on top it should do fine in the snow. Without the TC I'll either pull off two wheels in the winter or air down or get... yikes... 6 snow tires and throw some weight in the back.
What other options MUST I get? I'm so confused. I can't even tell what I get when I move up from Tradesman to SLT to Longhorn to Laramie.
Get the Cummins, it's 9k but you get most of that back at resale vs the gasser, not to mention the smiles per mile.
I'd also stretch for the Aisin, but it's not as essential as the Cummins.
Re trim, SLT is a sweetspot in my opinion. Laramie is nice too, Longhorn not worth the premium imo even though it's nice.
I THOUGHT I wanted the Laramie but I had just sat in my parents LongHorn they ordered and were picking up at DS. NO comparison when sitting in the Laramie compared to their LH. Had the cash so stepped up and now on my second LH.
